- You must have a driver’s license and be able to pass a vision test.
- You must be at least 18 years old. Applicants under the age of 21 will be restricted to intrastate operation only.
- Oral exams are available in English, Spanish or Haitian Creole. The skills tests and hazmat exams are available only in English. You may not use an interpreter during your CDL oral exam or during any part of the skills test. It will be very helpful to study the handbook first.
To be issued a class A, class B, or class C commercial driver’s license, you must pass the following tests successfully:
- General Knowledge test
- Air Brakes
- Basic Skills
- CDL road test
- Required examinations for desired endorsements
In addition to the above tests, for a class A commercial driver’s license you must also successfully pass the Combinations vehicle test.
